"Hole in One" Birthday
So I celebrated a birthday a few days ago and with Christmas creeping closer every day, it got me thinking about gift giving. Let me start with the fact that I am a huge pain in the butt to buy for. I want what I want. I am also a recovering packrat constantly striving to live more minimally so I have become much more intentional about what I have in my home.
Just like my business model, I love gifts that serve and add value to someone’s life. Sometimes the greatest gifts aren’t even things. This may seem counterintuitive since I ultimately want people to buy what I’m selling but it also isn’t my goal to add lots of random junk to the universe. Ultimately I want my art on “mostly” useful products that serve a purpose while adding joy! (“Have what you need, need what you have, and just a smidge more” keeps popping into my brain.)
For my birthday, my husband gave me an almost perfect (I’ll explain in a moment), wonderful gift. He gifted me an experience! He surprised me by gathering my kids (minus one, hence the “almost” part) and their plus ones all in the same place! We had lots of laughs and so much fun over a few adult beverages and yummy food while swinging golf clubs at TopGolf. Most of us have little golf experience and between our unique form(s) and missed swings, it was quite comical. So many laughs and a priceless experience.
I guess I can say my birthday was a “Hole in One!”
PS: This in no way dampens my excitement to receive my super comfy pjs my sister has sent…bring on the comfort and joy!
